Best Things to do in Gravenhurst
Planning a day in Ghurst? Here’s how to live your best life.
Gravenhurst, it’s the gateway to Muskoka and a little town with a lot to offer with tourist attractions, an array of food choices, places to hike, and a wide range of activities. I know what my favourite day would include but there are so many options to please anyone in your group so I will list a few and you can start making a plan to live your best life in South Muskoka.
Relish Kitchen & Market
The itinerary ahead is packed (my FOMO is real) so I would start with a little nourishment. When figuring out where to eat in Muskoka, check out Relish, it has bowls, soup, appetizers, but with this early start you can grab a breakfast muffin and nice little drink, my business partner’s go to is an iced coffee and I would be wanting a chai latte for the road. Want to pack something for later? The peanut butter oat bar is sooo delicious and is a “don’t mind if I do” almost every time we go.
Hardy Lake Trail
The Hardy Lake trails are great and located just outside of Gravenhurst towards Bala. Hardy Lake boasts a lake (obviously), a couple of bridges, and lots of trees, basically all the instragram-able requirements and it can be a choose your own adventure in terms of how long you want to hike. Parking can be limited so plan accordingly.
Floathaus
The reviews for the Floathaus, a floating sauna are fire rain or shine, what a perfect afternoon. What will you experience? A quick check in at this Muskoka Nordic Spa located at Muskoka Mind + Body at the Gravenhurst wharf, then change into your swimwear and the coolest and coziest of surf robes, then it is off to warm up in a spacious floating sauna, cool off in the cold plunge (this is a full on ice plunge in the winter) and then lounge on the dock hammock (picture catamaran netting floating above the water). You can book this privately or attend a social sauna. At any time, you can also pop inside for the best of the best bean bag chairs, a little shopping, and a cold kombucha or a tea. Then repeat, repeat, repeat! This would also really hit for a fun date night in Muskoka, bachelorette or bachelor party or a perfect girls getaway event.
Blue Willow Tea Shop (& Muskoka Steamships)
Now that you worked up an appetite and you feel like the healthiest person alive, it’s time for some pampering and decadence and there is no treat quite like high tea. Our friends at the Blue Willow will three tier the socks off you and top off your teapot just when you need it. You can also have high tea on the high seas (or rather steamship lake cruise) by booking the Wenonah II High Tea Cruise for a scenic cruise trip that includes the Blue Willow High Tea. You can also set sail on any of the three steamships with standard or specialty cruises or book it out for a private event. It is a famous and long-standing, or rather floating, Gravenhurst attraction.
These are just a few things to do but I could go on and on and the best day can quickly turn into options for the best things to do in Gravenhurst weekend or weeklong stay.
Note: In a seasonal town, offerings are subject to change. Be sure to look into hours and offerings with each business and location specifically to find the most current information.
